Scar Release massage is performed on healed scars (minimum of 8 weeks old) with the aim of releasing adhesion to enhance freedom of movement around the scar tissue area as well as decreasing related pain and discomfort. This technique can be performed on older scars with good results too. Older scars often have created restrictions on tissues further away from scar adding to fascial restrictions and muscle tension further away from the initial injury.
Aimed at people that have a scar that creates pain, discomfort or restriction after an injury and/or surgery. The appearance/size of the scar might change as circulation is increased and pulling forces of adhesions are minimized, although the main benefits of this massage is to reduce discomfort and restriction caused in the healing phase of the scar.
The massage is not just restricted to the visible scar area but also surrounding tissues and layers below the skin that were affected. It can also be performed effectively on areas where there was an injury but no visible scar on the skin itself, like muscle tears. Often Myofascial Release is combined to promote greater results.
The amount of sessions required will depend on each individual case, type, size and numbers of scars. Sessions of 30 or 45min available.
